For a Limited Time Only uses an abstract and whimsical approach to explore how we thrive within a world of constraint, whether political, social, personal, or emotional. Bringing together an artistic team to construct a new performance using words, music, dance, and video to play with this inquiry. Gold spent the last year working with this notion of limitations in three different ways—with video and short dances dictated by the surrounding environment, directing a trio to respond with music and dance to specific prompts, and creating a solo that was molded by outside direction and text. The result is a two-part performance with video installation and live performance about restrictions, bugs, doors, tenderness, outrage, and a melodic tune.
Conceived by Gold and designed by George, the duo comes together again for their 4th collaboration; they continue to build on a shared vocabulary of play and performance with some of their favorite artists. Last years There Is No Such Thing As A Single Stripe, which transformed Ironwood Hall into a fabric forest, was recently nominated for multiple Austin Critics Table awards. Their 2015 premier, 1000 Forest Gorillas in Kansas garnered Gold and George a Best Choreography award from Central Texas Excellence in Theater Awards. George was awarded Best Lighting Design for Forest Gorillas in the 2014-2015 season by the Austin Critics Table and Gold was inducted into Austin Arts Hall of Fame.
